Tottenham sign Man City's Marmoush on loan

Tottenham have signed Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to make the deal permanent for £60m next summer. The 27-year-old Egypt international will join former City team-mate Savio at Spurs, after the Brazilian moved to north London for an initial fee of £75m on Tuesday.

"Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me," said Marmoush.

"I've spoken with the head coach [Roberto de Zerbi], I loved what he had to say and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together." Marmoush signed for City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January 2025 and has scored 16 goals in 62 games for the club in all competitions.

After a bright start to his City career, Marmoush made 13 of his 21 league appearances last term from the bench with Norway international Erling Haaland the club's preferred central striker. Marmoush was utilised as a second-half substitute in City's 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and was an unused substitute in their 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth last Sunday. Spurs have spent more than £312m in the transfer window this summer.

They have signed Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, while defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, plus goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, have arrived on free transfers. Speaking about their most recent arrival, De Zerbi said: "Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club – ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference.

"He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.

Ibom Air’s latest Airbus aircraft is second among the 10 ordered by ex-Gov Emmanuel’s administration

The new Airbus A220-300 aircraft acquired by Ibom Air, a commercial airline owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government, is among the 10 ordered by the administration of former Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2021.

“The aircraft, registered 5N-CDC, was formally handed over to Ibom Air at the Airbus A220 final assembly facility in Mirabel, Canada, following the signing of the Transfer of Title documents by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi,” Aniekan Essienette, group manager, marketing and communication, Ibom Air, said in the statement on 26 August.

By Tuesday, a few hours from today, the Akwa Ibom State Government will hold a ceremony at the Victor Attah International Airport, the home of Ibom Air, to receive the new aircraft as part of the state’s 39th anniversary celebration. There is excitement among the airline management and workers, government officials and Akwa Ibom residents as they await the aircraft’s arrival.

But beyond the excitement, this development reinforces the legacy of former Governor Emmanuel’s administration in Akwa Ibom and his successor’s ability to keep faith. Then-Governor Emmanuel, against all odds and public criticism, established Ibom Air in 2019, making Akwa Ibom the first sub-national entity in Nigeria to own and operate a commercial airline.

Enugu State, under Governor Peter Mbah, taking a cue from Akwa Ibom, now owns an airline, Enugu Air, which launched its inaugural flight on 7 July 2025. Cross River and Bayelsa states are also exploring ways to set up their own airlines. Ibom Air’s latest Airbus A220-300 aircraft is among the 10 that Mr Emmanuel’s administration ordered in 2021 before leaving office in 2023.

Mr Emmanuel led the airline management to Dubai for the deal signing on 16 November 2021 at the Dubai Airshow.

FG activates task force over diphtheria outbreak in Katsina, Kano

…Deploys 500,000 vaccine doses, expands treatment centres By Chidinma Chukwu, Abuja ABUJA — The Federal Government has activated an emergency multi-agency task force to contain a diphtheria outbreak affecting children in parts of Katsina and Kano states. As part of the immediate response, the government has deployed 500,000 doses of diphtheria vaccines to the two states and commenced measures to expand access to treatment for affected communities.

The directive was issued by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, according to a statement signed by the ministry’s Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, Ado Bako, on Friday. The ministry said the emergency task force would strengthen disease surveillance, close immunisation gaps and ensure that suspected and confirmed cases receive prompt treatment and referral care.

It said the response was part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases and strengthen the country’s capacity to detect and respond rapidly to disease outbreaks. The task force was constituted by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in collaboration with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the affected state governments and international health partners.

According to the statement, the committee would be co-chaired by the Director-General of the NCDC and the Director of Public Health. It would include representatives of the NPHCDA; health commissioners from Katsina, Kano, Zamfara and Sokoto states; the World Health Organisation (WHO); UNICEF; and the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme in Katsina State. The ministry’s Chief Epidemiologist will serve as secretary of the task force.

Under the emergency response plan, the NPHCDA has deployed 500,000 doses of vaccines to Katsina and Kano for intensified immunisation of unvaccinated children in affected and high-risk communities. The task force will also

EPL: Saka’s Strike Earns Arsenal Hard-Fought Win At Aston Villa

Bukayo Saka’s second-half goal was the difference as Arsenal overcame a stubborn Aston Villa side in a close encounter at Villa Park. Saka fired home from close range on 59 minutes after neat interplay between Eberechi Eze and Riccardo Calafiori broke through a stubborn Villa backline. The result means the Premier League champions maintain their winning start to the season while Villa remain searching for their first victory of the campaign.

This fixture was one of the few matches that Arsenal lost in winning the Premier League title last season but Saka’s goal decided what was a tight game despite an improved showing from Unai Emery’s much-changed Aston Villa line-up.

The reigning Europa League champions were 4-0 down after 31 minutes at Brighton on the opening weekend but they showed far more resilience against the Gunners from the outset, with Emiliano Buendia crashing the ball against the crossbar on 12 minutes. Mikel Arteta’s men, unchanged from the win over Coventry, were their usual probing selves, asking searching questions from set pieces and controlling possession for long periods.

But Gabriel’s mistimed header was as close as they came in the first half. Summer signing Christos Tzolis was substituted at half-time after receiving a yellow card and running the risk of a sending off after that, but the introduction of Eze worked out well with the Gunners ramping up the pressure in the second half with the ever-impressive Saka to the fore.

Sam’s thought he had won a penalty early in the second half but Ian Maatsen’s foul was ruled to be outside the box following a VAR review. It mattered not because he slotted home Calafiori’s cross from close range soon afterwards.

#SelahMusicVid: Sunmisola Agbebi | Wonder [Audio + Video] | Feat. Kaestrings

“Wonder” By Sunmisola Agbebi featuring Kaestrings is now available for download online Nigerian gospel music ministers Sunmisola Agbebi and Kaestrings unite on “Wonder,” a powerful worship collaboration that celebrates the majesty, love, greatness, and fatherhood of God. The song is a heartfelt expression of awe and adoration, inviting listeners to behold God afresh and remain captivated by the wonder of who He is.

Built around the captivating declaration, “Wonder, You’re a Wonder to me / ABBA, You’re a Wonder to me / Wonder to my soul,” the song delivers a simple yet memorable refrain designed to draw both individual worshippers and congregations into a deeper expression of adoration.

Opening with a call to behold the King of Glory and Lion of Judah, Wonder develops into an intimate worship experience as Sunmisola declares God as Saviour, Kinsman-Redeemer, Ruler, and Father. Kaestrings complements the record with his distinctive emotive delivery, adding depth to Sunmisola’s passionate vocals and helping the collaboration evolve beyond a conventional song into a spontaneous worship encounter.

Throughout the track, the two ministers move seamlessly between structured verses, chants, prayers, and declarations, celebrating Jesus as King, Rock, Refuge, Redeemer, and the Resurrected One. One of the song’s defining moments comes through the repeated prayer, “May I never lose my wonder,” which captures the heart of the collaboration—a desire to remain continually amazed by who God is and all He has done.

Kaestrings also reflects on the wonder evident in creation, pointing listeners toward the beauty of nature and the power of God’s spoken word, while Sunmisola leads moments of deep worship and heartfelt adoration. Bringing together the distinct musical and ministerial expressions of two prominent voices in Nigeria’s contemporary gospel music scene, Wonder creates a sound that feels both intimate and expansive.
